2008 Seadoo Gti
Ever since the first Sea-Doo was launched, in 1968, the Quebec-based company has kept pushing the envelope of innovation. Today, luxury, performance and technology are combined to provide a unique sense of freedom. The latest models are considerably more advanced as well as increasingly safe, quiet and generously equipped.
2008 Sea-Doo RXT-X
RXP-X and RXT-X
The legendary RX "musclecraft" series keeps improving with the addition of the new RXP-X, a racier and more powerful machine which is directly derived from race-bred models. The newly-designed aluminum handlebar with power riser allows you to adjust the steering for superior performance on waves.
Also new is the racer-inspired X-Finger Throttle, a one-of-a-kind aluminum lever that's sturdy yet lightweight and allows greater riding precision than a traditional plastic lever.
Rider ergonomics have been improved thanks to a new low-profile seat. The special shape makes it possible to adjust your body positioning for maximum leverage when dealing with obstacles like massive waves.
Unparalleled power
For 2008, BRP introduces the most powerful engine ever designed for personal watercraft. Engineers beefed up the famous 215-hp force-fed Rotax mill of the 2007 RXP, increasing output to 255 horsepower thanks to a new, larger supercharger. Besides, the electronic fuel injection system improves exhaust emission control and delivers a linear powerband.
The engine that powers the 2-seat RXP-X and 3-seat RXT-X is now better protected against corrosion generated from salt water thanks to a unique, closed-loop cooling system. The latter ensures adequate operating temperature at all speeds. Further improving cooling efficiency is a water/air separator which provides maximum airflow to the engine and reduces water intrusion.
Power from the engine is sent to a single-stage turbine with stainless steel impeller. The company also included a variable trim system (VTS) which adjusts the attitude of the watercraft based on your weight, riding style and water conditions.

The regular RXP is still available for 2008 in 155- and 215-hp trim. This model proves easier to ride and offers virtually all the features of higher-end RXPs at a much lower price. Interestingly, the naturally-aspirated base engine has received a 3-star certification from the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
Buyers can select the 155-hp naturally-aspirated engine or the 215-hp supercharged variant.
GTX and GTX Limited
The GTX name has long been associated with comfort, luxury and convenience. For 2008, BRP upgraded equipment levels with a new watertight, removable storage bin including a dry bag, removable tray, safety kit, portable anchor and waterproof cell phone case. The GTX Limited adds a large glove compartment with integrated color GPS. Buyers can select the 155-hp naturally-aspirated engine or the 215-hp supercharged variant.
A matter of safety
All Sea-Doo models are factory-equipped with a cool digital infocenter with easy-to-read gauges and up to 20 LCD functions. Also included are the famous Off-Power Assist Steering (OPAS) and the D-Sea-Bel system for reduced engine noise and a more pleasant riding experience. Let's not forget the Digitally Encoded Security System (DESS), the industry's first antitheft device -- now standard on all 2008 models.
As for the Sea-Doo RTX, GTI and Wake, they come back with a few enhancements and new colors. The 130-hp GTI remains the most affordable model in the family yet it boasts plenty of notable features and above-average storage capacity.
Sea-Doo offers by far the most diversified personal watercraft lineup in the industry. As a recreational product specialist, BRP has become a world leader with unsurpassed expertise.
